I'm a central Maine based wedding photojournalist based in the small town of Winslow, Maine, but available for travel anywhere in the world.
It may sound a little corny, but I really do love all things weddings. I love all things weddings because I believe in it. I believe in the truest, deepest, most passionate love…because I’m fortunate to live it every day. I’ve been lucky enough to be married to my best friend, Heidi, for the last eleven years. We have three perfect children, Lillian and Orland and Charlotte as well as four fur-children, our two dogs, Wallace and Gracie and our two cats, Erik and Clyde.
I understand that picking your wedding photographer is the most important decision you'll make regarding your big day and I'm honored that you are here considering me to capture your life's most valuable moments. Your wedding day will go by so quickly, but your images will last forever. I absolutely love telling the incredible stories of my extraordinary clients.
What you’ll learn right off is that I’m incredibly easy going, but slightly OCD about the details of your big day. When we chat, I will have as many questions for you as you’ll have for me. I know how stressful planning a wedding is and will do my best to never let a whole day go by without responding to your questions, concerns or comments. I love being a local resource for my clients - for over a decade, I have been lucky enough to work alongside the best wedding vendors that our amazing state has to offer. If you have ideas or questions, please don't be shy!
On your big day, I always keep things stress-free. No overly-fake posed shots. I’m there to capture you; not what I want you to look like. The more relaxed and comfortable you are, the better, more genuine the images will be. I’ll be sure to capture all the details because I know there's a lot that goes into them, but your gallery will be much heavier on the moments that will make up your wedding day. Lots of pictures of your guests having the time of their lives. Lots of smiles. Lots of love.
I approach my work with a photojournalistic style, unobtrusively documenting life’s most important moments. I’ll be there, camera ready, to capture it all while you and your closest loved ones celebrate, what is truly, one of the greatest days of your lives. We’ll create amazing images together that will hang on your walls for years forever.
Professionally I am your photographer, but personally, I am your friend. Seriously. I become good friends with a majority of my clients and continue to document their lives well beyond their wedding day. I am so honored that my clients trust me with some of the most precious moments in their lives. You’ll always get my best work. I love, love, love what I do and would love to talk to you about your vision of the perfect wedding.
Your wedding photography should be more than just pictures - it should be an experience. I like to think this is the thing my clients value the most. I want you to wake up the next morning, look at your new husband/wife and say, 'hiring Ben for our wedding photography was the BEST decision we made'.
If it sounds like we may be a good match, please check out some more of my work and let’s connect.
Here are the current packages I offer, but if your find yourself falling in between packages, we can most likely work something out. Don't be shy, reach out if you have any questions whatsoever.
*****
Weddings within 50 miles of my home in Winslow, Maine are free of charge - weddings that are greater than 50 miles are priced reasonably, based on the location of your celebration.
A 'First Look' is a controlled moment between you and you partner (and your dog) where you see each other for the first time. It's done earlier in the day and replaces the tradition of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony and is always awesome. This is a wonderful way to get the jitters out and a great way to get a lot of portraits out of the way - freeing up time for you to spend with your guests during cocktail hour.
First Looks aren't for everyone, though, and that's totally cool. Your wedding day should be just as you've imagined it your whole life.
Absolutely! Several of my amazing couples have given me the 'ok' to share full galleries with future clients. This is always a great way to see what a full day of coverage look like.
Hit me up! We can start a dialogue and I can send a few galleries along.
Are you planning a sparkler exit? Starting hair and makeup extra early? Planning a First Look? These are a few of the many things to keep in mind when thinking about wedding day coverage.
My middle package, The Essential Collection, keeps me onsite for 9 hours, which is the perfect amount of time to cover all of the major happenings of the day - it also includes an engagement session, which is a great time to get to know each other before your wedding day. But, if you are having a more intimate gathering, The Sweet + Simple Collection may be just right for you and your needs. Or you are just going all out and need me there all day - in that case the Luxe Love Collection is for you. With the Luxe Love package, I'll be by your side all day and also includes a second shooter for prime hours.
In the end I guess the question is: How hard are you going to party?
Heck yes, you should.
I am a huge dog guy and I couldn't toot this horn loud enough. If your pup (or pups) behave well enough to be around a large group of people, I say GO FOR IT. I've shot over 50 weddings with dogs and I am yet to have anyone regret including them in their wedding day.
If it fits in your budget, a second shooter can always add value to a wedding day. If you and your partner aren't getting ready at the same location, a second shooter can really help with the timeline and flow of the day as well as providing multiple angles during ceremony and reception. Plus, you can end up with rad pics like this one to the left by one of my awesome second shooters (and friend), Stephanie Jacobson.
With that being said, I am more than comfortable shooting solo and have shot over 100 weddings on my own.
You better believe I do.
Love is love period. I've always tried to put out some seriously good vibes everywhere I go and those vibes have brought me hundreds of totally amazing clients. I love them all and don't care who they love, just that they love. Love love love. Love.
Yes.
